Week 4: productive tasks

I can admit that this week has been quite tough with all the reading and the productive tasks we have to do. Besides I have a lot of work at the faculty as the students are having their mid-term exams, so I’ve also worked up tests and supervised tests.

Actually I’m not only learning how to integrate the use of technology in English teaching but  I have also found out how to draw a lesson plan based on ABCD approach which I find very interesting to create a better targeted lesson. Furthermore, Sean’s feedback has been crucial to make me adjust this new approach in my reading lesson plan.
Fortunately the grades of the previous week are the best reward that pushes me and makes me recover courage.

  1. Hi Munira,

I agree with you that we learn not only how to integrate the technology in English teaching but something else. As for me this week I learned the following thing:
I was struck by the idea from "Tips and Advice from the Webskills Team:
Writing a Technology Enhanced Lesson Plan" (https://sites.google.com/site/webskillsuo/lesson-plan), exactly by "Think about their (students) needs and interests as well as appropriate technology for your context". Usually we do in a different way - we have some technologies and think for what tasks they can be used, i.e. this or that film can be used for listening tasks, project work, comprehension tasks, etc. And after reading these tips I tried to think about students first, their problems or issues, their conditions and only stating these issues I started to think about the mean or technology that can be used to help students cope with their situation and solve their problem not attain some idealistic goals.

  2. Hello Mounira and Helga,
Really both of you keep a high spirit of learning, don't you?. That's right we learned more from we did during four weeks of these Webskills Course. Many now we know how to use technologies for teaching and prepare our teaching preparation well-organized, such as formulating learning objectives based on the ABCD Model, creating a technology-enhanced lesson plan, bookmarking some references on Delicious net and RWG Web Pages, and browsing webs through very valuable search engines. We can be consistent to use them for our school job in order to keep our work better. Thanks.

  3. Hi Mourina,

I do agree that this week is quite tough. We learn pretty much, though.

As a teacher, we are a lot busy before , during, and after teaching. Anyway, we struggle for our students knowledge.

  4. Hi Mourina,

Yes, this week is relatively tough compared with the previous three weeks, so we have to work harder trying to be productive to meet the challenge facing us.

In addition, as teachers, we have a lot of work to do at school, e.g. teaching, class preparation, giving feedback to students' homework, attending conferences, preparing for mid-term exam, etc. Besides, as a family member, we have to take the responsibility of taking care of family. Frankly, it's not easy to be a teacher and a student at the same time. We need to carefully balance work and life. However, no matter how tough it is, we are happy to learn from our instructor, Sean.

    Do you agree?

    Best,

    Fan
